42ND G7 SUMMIT
MIE PREFECTURE, JAPAN
26- 27 MAY 2016

Japan will be hosting the G7 summit on 26-27 May in Ise-Shima, Mie Prefecture.
Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, the US and Canada together make up the G7. The European Commission is also represented at all meetings.

The G7 Ise-Shima Summit is the first G7 Summit to be convened in Asia since the summit in Toyako eight years ago. The summit is expected to tackle issues such as the slowdown in the growth of the global economy, terrorism threatening people’s lives, increasing refugee crises and other challenges affecting worldwide peace and prosperity.

The situation in the Asia-Pacific region will also have a prevalent place of discussion between the G7 leaders as announced by Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

The 42nd G7 summit will be the first summit for Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the last summit for U.S President Barack Obama.
