On April 10, 2010, Polish government airplane with 96 passengers on board, including president Lech Kaczynski and his wife, crashed while attempting to land at the Smolensk military airport. There were no survivors.

Fifth anniversary of the tragic event will be celebrated in Warsaw (Poland) with participation of the President of Poland Bronisław Komorowski, Prime Minister of Poland Ewa Kopacz and Polish officials.

The most important part of the celebration of the anniversary will be the March of the Memory led by the opposition leader Jarosław Kaczyński, the brother of the deceased President and the ceremony on the Powązki Military Cemetery under the Monument of Smolensk catastrophe’ victims.

12.15-16.00 CET – Concerts and prayers in front of the Presidential Palace in Warsaw

16.50 CET – Statement of Jaroslaw Kaczynski – a twin brother of a late President Lech Kaczynski and a leader of the largest opposition party Law and Justice

Approx. 20:00 CET - Memory March from the Warsaw Arch Cathedra to the Presidential Palace


Ceremonies at the Powazki cemetery (at the Monument to the victims of the Smolensk air crash):
