Mayor Bill de Blasio warned New Yorkers to prepare for the worst as a major storm threatens to blanket the city with a potential accumulation of as much as 3 feet.

De Blasio said it "could be one of the top two or three largest storms in the history of the city."

The National Weather Service has a blizzard warning in effect for the New York and Boston areas starting Monday night. Forecasters say a massive storm could drop two to three feet of snow from northern New Jersey to southern Connecticut.

New York, 27th January 2015

The north east of the United States was being hit by a major snowstorm on Monday night, with blizzard warnings in force from New Jersey north to the Canadian border.

The mayor of New York said the city was most likely facing one of the biggest snowstorms in its history.

More than 5,000 flights were cancelled on Monday and the subway was closed. Residents were warned to stay at home as up to 3 feet (1 metre) of snow was anticipated.

Eurovision Americas will provide live stand-up facilities from Times Square, New York on Tuesday January 27th.

Eurovision Americas will offer the following facilities in Times Square:

Standup position for live programme inserts
Connectivity to the Eurovision Global Network
In addition, editing and playout facilities (multi-format) will be available at the Eurovision New York bureau, 524 West 57th Street.
