31.12.2014Afghanistan: Deadline for American troops to conclude combat mission in Afghanistan *** ARCHIVE
IHA News Agency
American troops are expected to conclude combat missions and head home as the International Security Assistance Force’s (ISFA) mission ends in Afghanistan.
ISAF is a NATO-led security mission that was established by the United Nations Security Council in December 2001. Its main purpose is to train the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) and assist Afghanistan in rebuilding key government institutions.
The US announced in May 2014 that it will keep 9,800 troops in Afghanistan after the US concludes its combat mission at the end of this year.
