MANILA, PHILIPPINES, 15-18 JANUARY 2015

Millions of Filipinos are expected to greet Pope Francis as he visits the Philippines from 15 January 2015. His itinerary will take him to the city of Tacloban, where he will have lunch with survivors of Super Typhoon Haiyan. The visit to Asia’s most catholic country, will culminate with an open air mass in Manila's Rizal Park.

Organisers are preparing for large crowds – possibly in the millions. When Pope John Paul II visited the Philippines in 1995, the Guinness World Records recognised the event in Rizal Park as the “largest papal crowd in history”.
