Tehran, Iran: 18 November 2014

Following talks in Oman that ended without agreement, Iran and six world powers - the United States, France, Germany, China, Russia and Britain - will meet again in Vienna on November 18th in a final attempt to end the decade-long nuclear standoff by a November 24th target date. It is hoped that an agreement on a long-term deal will be reached that would define the permissible scope of Iran's nuclear programme in return for a lifting of sanctions that are battering its oil-dependent economy. Tehran and Moscow have both indicated that more time may be required.
