The Festival della canzone italiana di Sanremo (in English: Sanremo Italian song festival) is a popular Italian song contest, held annually in the city of Sanremo, in Italy, and consisting of a competition amongst previously unreleased songs.
It is the music equivalent to the Premio Regia Televisiva for television, the Premio Ubu for stage performances, and the Premio David di Donatello for motion pictures.
The festival, now in the sixty-fourth edition in 2014, is one of the leading Italian media events, with some corroborating evidence abroad
The statue of the Lion of San Remo is the most prestigious award for musicians and performers Italian.
