The 9 November 2014 marks the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Many special events and exhibitions to commemorate the anniversary of this historic event are planned across the city.
A special light installation will be set up along the former course of the Wall made of thousands illuminated balloons - a border made of light will run for twelve kilometres across the city centre.
A big citizen festival with a varied evening program, memories of the Peaceful Revolution, the opening of a symbolic " light limit " and lots of Music will take place at the Brandenburg Gate.

The 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall will be celebrated in Berlin on 9 November 2014.
The Berlin Wall went up on 13 August 1961 – a symbol for a divided city and a divided Germany, and the Cold War. Under the pressure of the wave of protests in East Germany at the end of the 1980s, the border crossing points were opened on 9 November 1989 – amid scenes of joyful Berliners from East and West celebrating with thousands of visitors to the city from all over the world.

Germany's capital will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall on 09 November.
One million people are expected to attend celebrations, which will focus on the Brandenburg Gate, the city's best-known landmark and symbol of the reunification of East and West Berlin.
Germany was separated into Soviet-aligned East Germany and NATO-allied West Germany for more than four decades until the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and official reunification in 1990.

November 9th 2014 marks the 25th anniversary of one of the most significant events of recent history: the fall of the Wall of Berlin, that divided the city between East and West until 1989.
