Pope John Paul II will be declared saint on April 27, 2014. In Poland will be organized many public gatherings and ceremonies on this occasion.

Krakow

April 2 - opening of the exhibition "John Paul II - the Holy from Malopolska province" at Planty Park in Krakow

Just before the canonization the Polish Aviation Museum in Krakow plans to show a renewed Mi-8 helicopter, in which John Paul II was flying during a pilgrimages to Poland

The main celebration of John Paul’ s Canonization will be held at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima at Krzeptówki in Zakopane – people will watch the live transmission of the Vatican ceremony.
Before the transmission there will be a concert "In tribute to Pope John Paul II"

Wadowice

April 27
10:00 CET – live transmission of the Vatican ceremony on the main square in Wadowice
After the canonization ceremony, there will be a thanksgiving mass.
April 9 – opening of the Holy Father's family Museum in Wadowice
The opening ceremony of the museum will be preceded by Holy Mass at the Basilica of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Wadowice, and will culminate with a concert at the Wadowice market square

Canonization of John Paul II

Pope Francis decreed that his two predecessors, John XXIII and John Paul II, will be elevated to Sainthood on Sunday, 27 April 2014, on the festivity of the Divine Mercy, the Vatican said.

Polish John Paul, the first non-Italian pope for more than 400 years, led the Catholic Church from 1978-2005. Pope John XXIII, known as ''the good Pope'', called Vatican II Council that transformed the Catholic Church during his 1958-1963 reign.

John Paul II and John XXIII will be canonized at the Vatican on Sunday 27 April 2014. Thousands of people are expected to be present at the Sanctuary and Center of John Paul II in Krakrow during the ceremony.

Pope Francis is presiding the canonization ceremonies for two of his most illustrious predecessors, John XXIII and John Paul II. The two are being elevated to Sainthood on Sunday, 27 April 2014, on the festivity of the Divine Mercy.

Polish John Paul, the first non-Italian pope for more than 400 years, led the Catholic Church from 1978-2005.

Meanwhile in Poland, thousands are to gather around churches in Krakow for thanksgiving prayers and vigils on the night before the Polish-born John Paul II is made a saint.
