05.11.2014United States: US mid-term elections *** ARCHIVE

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS I AP 360

Americans will go to the polls on November 4 for the Midterm elections when States will select their representatives for the U.S. Congress and House of Representatives.

Recent polls suggest a good chance for a Republican victory in the Senate which is presently controlled by the Democrats.

If Republicans win the Senate and keep the majority in the House of Representatives, it would crush President Barack Obama's legislative agenda in his final two years in the White House.

Eurovision News Events

Washington, DC, 4-5 November 2014

The United States midterm elections will take place on Tuesday November 4th, with control of the Senate the big prize. 36 out of 100 seats are being contested, with the Republicans needing to gain six to win a majority. In addition, all 435 seats of the House of Representatives are up for election, with little expectation that the Republicans will lose control of that chamber.

Eurovision Americas will offer extensive live stand-up facilities from Capitol Hill during and after the election. Interior rotunda positions give the impression of being right at the heart of the US Congress, while alternative exterior positions give an excellent backdrop of the iconic Capitol building. All positions will be available day and night during the election period.

Video feeds, open plan workspace and bookable editing will be available at Eurovision Washington for visiting correspondents.

Eurovision Special Events will offer the following facilities:

- Capitol Hill positions for live programme inserts with interior rotunda or exterior Capitol views (HD or SD, US or European standards)
- Studios at Eurovision Washington with video chromakey of Capitol or White House
- Live rooftop stand-up positions at Mobile Video with White House backdrop
- Live stand-up positions on the White House lawn, inside the grounds (available only to correspondents with a US social security number; security clearance required, booked at least a day in advance)
- Playout (multi-format) from Eurovision Washington
- Non-equipped workspaces with video feeds at Eurovision Washington
- Connectivity to the Eurovision Global Network
