The Associated Press to transmit CCTV news feed

The Associated Press has been chosen by the Chinese state broadcaster, China Central Television (CCTV), to syndicate its news material to broadcasters worldwide via AP’s video news service.

A new service called ‘CCTV News Content’ will be available from 1 January 2011 via APTN’s satellite network, the Global Video Wire (GVW), which reaches 90 percent of the world’s national and international broadcasters.

With four transmissions daily, the service will give broadcasters unique news, sports and entertainment footage from one of the world’s fastest growing economies. The material will be free to all APTN customers and will come complete with shot lists.

The service will run 365 days per year and launches with four daily feeds of new material at the following timings on APTN’s Global Video Wire satellite service:

0045 to 0055 GMT (10 mins)
0520 to 0530 GMT (10 mins)
1415 to 1430 GMT (15 mins)
2300 to 2315 GMT (15 mins)

Nigel Baker, APTN’s VP of Business Operations EMEA said “APTN’s Corporate Services business is delighted to be able to distribute CCTV’s news feed. There is a growing appetite for news from China from around the world and we are confident that this new feed will help meet that need.”

Cao Ri, Director of the International News Department of CCTV said, “CCTV News Content presents a developing, changing and true China, it helps you to better understand the world from an Asian perspective, and deepens understanding and trust among all countries.”
